Invite*Welcome*Connect creator Mary Parmer of Sewanee’s School of Theology and Beecken Center will present creative, concrete resources and tools to assist congregations in forming systemic, intentional evangelism, hospitality, and connection ministries. Registration is $20 per person and includes supper, morning coffee, and a light lunch. Those attending from out of town who need overnight accommodations may get recommendations by contacting Suzy Jayroe at [email protected]. ![]() The Vestry of Church of the Holy Communion, Charleston has called the Reverend Charles Christopher Thompson as Interim Rector on July 1, 2017. He will follow Father Dow Sanderson. Father Chris comes to this area from West Virginia where he been serving as Interim Rector St Thomas Episcopal Church, White Sulpur Springs and St James Episcopal Church, Lewisburg. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1980. Since his ordination, he has served as Rector of EpiscopalChurches in West Virginia, Ohio and Virginia. Father Chris and his wife, Mary Jo, have three adult children. Jay and his family live in Portsmouth, Ohio. Elizabeth and her family live in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Lucy and her family live on John's Island. They are all married and have provided them with eight grandchildren. ![]() Deputies Lonnie Hamilton, Andrea McKellar and the Rev. Please keep Bishop Adams and our General Convention Deputies in your prayers this week as they are at Kanuga, the Episcopal Conference Center near Hendersonville, NC, for the 2017 Province IV Synod meeting, beginning this afternoon. This is one of two Synod gatherings held in preparation for the 79th General Convention of the Episcopal Church, which happens in July 2018. Bishop Adams arrived at Kanuga earlier this week for the Province IV House of Bishops meeting. Province IV is a regional group of 20 diocese, including ours, that cover nine southeastern states. At Synod meetings, deputies gather "to worship, learn, pray, network and celebrate the work that God has called us to do," according to the Province IV website. Discussions will take place on a variety of topics of interest to the whole Church, including issues that are likely to be addressed at General Convention in 2018.
