![]() The Reverend Adam Shoemaker to St. Stephen's, Charleston St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Charleston has called the Reverend Adam Shoemaker to be Rector, effective August 1. The parish made the announcement on July 2. Fr. Shoemaker has served as rector of Holy Comforter in Burlington, N.C. since 2011. Before that he served as assistant rector at Christ Church in Andover, Mass. A native New Yorker, he received his bachelor's degree from Boston University in 2001, his M.Div from Harvard Divinity School in 2005, and his Diploma in Anglican Studies from General Theological Seminary in 2007. He served as a missionary in Brazil from 2005-2006. He is currently studying at Duke Divinity School to earn a Doctorate in Ministry. Read a letter from Fr. Shoemaker to St. Stephen's here. He is married to the Reverend Courtney Davis Shoemaker (also an Episcopal priest); they have three children ages 4, 2, and 2 months. The Reverend William H. Coyne to The East Cooper Episcopal Church Bishop Skip Adams has named the Rev. William H. Coyne as Priest-in-Charge of The East Cooper Episcopal Church, effective August 1. East Cooper's Mission Council made theannouncement on July 2. Fr. Coyne has served for the past two years as Interim rector of St. Stephen's, Charleston. He received a B.A. degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College, and his Master of Divinity from General Theological Seminary in 1978. He and his wife Janet have three grown children and two grandchildren. Fr. Coyne retired from the Diocese of Western Massachusetts, having served as Archdeacon of the Diocese 1998 to 2013.
