Ted Wingfield Named Diocesan Director of Finance and Administration

The Right Reverend Ruth Woodliff-Stanley has appointed Ted Wingfield as diocesan director of finance and administration, effective July 15, 2025. He will begin the role on a part-time basis (20 hours a week) and is expected to transition to full-time status in early 2026.

“Ted brings a wealth of experience to our staff,” said Bishop Woodliff-Stanley. “With an MBA and professional experience in the federal, military, and private sectors, his skills will be invaluable as we continue living into a new season here in the Diocese of South Carolina. He and his wife, Grace, are deeply engaged in the ministry of Calvary Episcopal Church in Charleston and the diocese. His thoughtful, insightful leadership is a gift. I look forward to welcoming him to our team!” 

As director of finance and administration, he will work with the diocesan comptroller and treasurer, and he will have oversight of all fiscal and accounting activities of the Diocese of South Carolina including budgeting and forecasting processes, financial analysis, reporting, and financial planning, accounting operations, and insurance needs. Additionally, he will serve as a resource to congregations and ministries within the diocese to ensure that the congregations’ fiscal matters follow accepted procedures and comply with applicable laws and regulations. He will be available to work with diocesan committees and boards, staff, and volunteers, to support congregations through financial training for clergy, treasurers, and wardens. These responsibilities were previously handled by Canon Andrea McKellar, who resigned from the diocese in mid-June.

For the time being, all questions related to CPG benefits programs and offerings, as well as enrolling new employees, should be directed to Betsy Pritchard, the executive assistant for the bishop.

A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a bachelor’s in math, Ted served in the Navy aboard a submarine from his graduation in 1989 until May 1994. After working in the private sector for a number of years for an industrial gas company and in the civilian nuclear power industry, he joined the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in 2003, where he remained for 20 years, serving as an operations examiner, financial program analyst, and multiple nuclear technology positions. After retiring from full-time status in December 2023, he took a position there on a part-time temporary capacity that will end in February 2026. Ted earned an MBA from the University of Delaware.

Ted and his wife, Grace, live in Charleston and have two adult daughters—their older daughter lives in Los Angeles and their younger daughter lives in North Charleston. The Wingfields are members of Calvary Episcopal Church in Charleston where Ted currently serves as junior warden.
