Call to Convention November 12-13, 2021 Notice is hereby given that the Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina will be hosted by the Pee Dee-Waccamaw Deanery at Holy Cross Faith Memorial Episcopal Church on November 12-13, 2021. Diocesan Convention this year presents opportunities to accomplish two primary goals: to do the necessary work for our diocese at its annual convention and to participate in the annual reunion of the people of the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina. Even though we are still dealing with a global pandemic, we are planning a hybrid convention informed by guidance from physicians who have been advising our Standing Committee. Based on the guidance from these medical consultants, we anticipate a lessening of the wave caused by the Delta variant by the end of September. Should this not be the case, we will make adjustments as necessary just as we have done for the Clergy Conference. Our hope is to create opportunities to involve the people of the diocese in this important event in a way that is comfortable for each individual. The October pre-convention deanery meetings and November convention meetings (e.g. meet the nominees, budget, etc...) will be entirely online. All Friday and Saturday events of convention will have the option to be attended in-person or virtually online. Three Deanery Meetings will be held prior to Convention. These meetings will include all clergy, delegates and alternates for the Convention, as well as other interested leaders. Attendance at these meetings is important, as they are an opportunity for discussion of proposed resolutions, and the 2022 program and budget, and an introduction of nominees for diocesan offices.
This year, all pre-convention deanery meetings will be held online. You are welcome to attend the one that is most convenient for you.
