GC80 Day Four Report: The Rev. Roy Tripp and Mark Szen

Today was the fourth and final day of the 80th General Convention. Two members of our deputation, The Reverend Roy Tripp and Mark Szen took a moment to share some of their biggest takeaways from their four busy days spent helping to carry out the important work of The Episcopal Church.

The final day of the 80th General Convention of The Episcopal Church began with Morning Prayer in the House of Bishops and House of Deputies that included a pre-recorded sermon by Julia Ayla Harris, president-elect of the House of Deputies. Both houses concluded business by early afternoon.

Episcopal Church General Convention approves reunion of Texas dioceses
On its final day in Baltimore, the 80th General Convention of The Episcopal Church approved the reunification of the Episcopal Church in North Texas with the Episcopal Diocese of Texas.

Bishops close convention with climate emergency statement ahead of Lambeth
The House of Bishops issued a statement during the final day of the 80th General Convention naming the climate crisis as the overarching issue that affects all the other issues of social justice that convention has considered.

House of Deputies president bids farewell after 10 years of service
In the final moments of her service as president, the Rev. Gay Clark Jennings described her journey to leadership in The Episcopal Church and urged deputies to embrace the generational change that is taking place and to stay committed to working for structural change to make the church more inclusive.
